His Manners men store | De Pijp (CLOSED)

Men love to shop as much as women....if you give them the right stores! On the Amsterdam Next blog and in the APP I covered several shops focusing on and where men love to shop. Hutspot is no longer unknown, 'Property off' a little gem in the Herenstraat and the Haarlemmerstraat en-dijk has several stores that focus on men.

His Manners is the latest concept store for men in the Pijp. The store has a tough look with metal stairs and blue steel walls. Leather products play a central role and even one of the walls is covered in leather. His Manners is the place to shop for leather bags, gadgets and gifts, products that all fit the 'must haves' category where quality and a stylish look are really important. Next to bags, watches and other small wanna-haves there are a few objects for your home including an outdoors fire place.

Danish brandstore BOLIA | Utrechtsestraat area

With a grand opening and a 20% discount on everything! till december 27th, Bolia opened it's first store in Amsterdam and the Netherlands. You have to believe me if I say the team build up the store in only two weeks and the result is pretty amazing!

Two floors of affordable Scandinavian design and a brand that with their slogan 'Sea, smell, hear, touch & taste' has the mission to give you a new and inspirational experience.

In the store you can try out the furniture in different cozy settings, I especially loved the basement where a more darker atmosphere was created with soft velvet, dark walls and an industrial room divider. With the many styled corners this store offers everything to find some new inspiration for your interior and see a fresh and different Scandinavian we haven't seen in town before.

OntFront menswear for the badboy & gentleman | Haarlemmerbuurt area [CLOSED]

Dutch menswear label OntFront openend their first brand store in Amsterdam on the Haarlemmerdijk 121. On Amsterdam Next I love to write about great concepts, interior design stores ... some food and beautiful interiors, so even if I discover a store I would never buy anything for myself, the interior can have something that caught my eye. At OntFront it was the dark mood and the Espresso brown walls that caught my eye. At the entrance a large picture of a Zazou is portrayed: a dapper rebel from Paris in 1944,representing everything that OntFront stands for: style, music, originality, vision and creativity.

OntFront is contemporary designer brand for men, founded by the passionate entrepreneurs Tomas Overtoom and Liza Koifman. Next to the collections of OntFront, you will find labels such as Barbour, Filling Pieces, Retrosuperfuture, Etudes, Daily Paper, Souve, Brixton and Pasotti Ombrelli. You can also find a classic bebop hat, tie, or bow tie. All must haves, to go through life as a modern Zazou.

Wildernis bringing green to the city | Old West | Vondelpark area

Some months ago I visited Wildernis together with my friend Igor, after hearing he was coming to Amsterdam I thought I should introduce him to Wildernis, as I thought it would be plant heaven for   him, (Igor is one of the founders of Urban Jungle Bloggers, an online platform for green lovers.

Wildernis is founded by Mila, who together with a friend thought it was time to set the growing love for plants and a green Lifestyle into a new concept. Entering the store the hanging plants covering the ceiling were the first thing that caught my eye! Wildernis is filled with cacti, indoor plants terrariums and all the tools you need to bring and take care of plants.

Next to shopping for your home or office, you can look through the many plant books, drink a coffee, get advice, follow workshops and get inspired for a greener indoor lifestyle.

Must see panoramic view | “The Garden Which is the Nearest To God”

There is always something happening in town, and I really wanted to show you the wonderful pictures Silvia made of the project of
Taturo Atzu on the roof of the oldest church in town. Silvia is an Italian photographer and we previously worked together on some blogpost for my interiors blog Vosgesparis and an article about Amsterdam Next, that will come out at the end of September.

These pictures were made during a photo shoot on the roof with Tania, a jewellery designer from Sydney. You can see those pictures on Silvia's website, and maybe you love a photo shoot with her yourself, she made some lovely portraits using Amsterdam as a backdrop!

Japanese artist Taturo Atzu is internationally renowned for his temporary art projects which transform our experiences of monuments, statues and architecture. Atzu's first public project in the Netherlands centres around the historic weather vane and the small roof turret, with the Angelus Clock, of the Oude Kerk.

Come Closer is a series of public gatherings on the roof of the Oude Kerk. The evening programme, running from August 13 to September 6, brings together thinkers, musicians, artists, Amsterdammers, neighbourhood residents, and the curious up in art installation “The Garden Which is the Nearest To God”

by Japanese artist Taturo Atzu: a panoramic terrace with a spectacular view over Amsterdam. In the midst of a city in motion, Come Closer offers a moment of reflection. For 12 evenings special guest speakers share a new perspective, a unique story or a performance with the public. High above the city in the open-air, a sort of contemporary hagenpreek (open-air sermon), Come Closer invites you to listen, look, experience, think collaboratively and to speak up. Ashes to Snow Hair atelier and gallery | East area

The Eastern part of Amsterdam is welcoming many young entrepreneurs lately. One of them are the owners of Ashes to snow, an hair atelier with a relaxed, artistic atmosphere where you will also find selected design, objects and art pieces from like-minded creatives from various disciplines.

The gallery presents, promotes and sells the work of young artists, photographers, designers and craftsmen. You can get you hair done by one of the stylists but also pop in for a coffee and a read and enjoy the various exhibitions and installations.

At the moment we visited them to make these pictures, almost six months ago, the Dream Scapes | Memory Lapse exhibition with photography by Ramona Deckers and Liza Nijhuisthe
was displayed in the totally white space, a beautiful contrast with the huge window that is covered with black paint, an amazing environment!
