101 Gowrie is the home address where Alex Haupt grew up in Australia and the name of his new to open restaurant at the Amsterdam Pijp Area. The food at 101 Gowrie can be defined as New Dutch Cuisine and the pictures are looking really promising.

Fest Amsterdam | South | De Pijp area
FEST Amsterdam was founded in 2013 from a personal need for well designed furniture without the high-end prices. owner Femke Furnée decided to fulfil this need by designing affordable furniture and home accessories herself. FEST Amsterdam has quickly become a brand known for its Dutch design with a fresh twist and a pop of colour. When visiting the store in the Pijp area our eye caught the new collaboration with Mae Engelgeer 'Crush' consisting of a series of graphic cushions and small vases pictured below.
With the current demand for lasting design, craftsmanship and beautiful materials and fabrics Fest hits all boxes, they follow the latest trends, but comfort, durability and timeless design always come first. In the store at the Van Woustraat a wall filled cabinet shows the smaller accessories, cushions and lamps by both Fest and different designers who collaborated with the brand.
With velvet still going strong a series of chairs in different shades of velvet and other selected Kvadrat fabric, a brand Fest is often working with, is grouped around the table. The bench, which will be available in various finishes is set for release this fall. Throughout the store you will find a selection of sofa's chairs, rugs and small tables by Fest Amsterdam.
More about the collaboration with Mae Engelgeer and the launch of 'Crush' can be found at my interior design blog Vosgesparis.com

His Manners men store | De Pijp (CLOSED)
Men love to shop as much as women....if you give them the right stores! On the Amsterdam Next blog and in the APP I covered several shops focusing on and where men love to shop. Hutspot is no longer unknown, 'Property off' a little gem in the Herenstraat and the Haarlemmerstraat en-dijk has several stores that focus on men.
His Manners is the latest concept store for men in the Pijp. The store has a tough look with metal stairs and blue steel walls. Leather products play a central role and even one of the walls is covered in leather. His Manners is the place to shop for leather bags, gadgets and gifts, products that all fit the 'must haves' category where quality and a stylish look are really important. Next to bags, watches and other small wanna-haves there are a few objects for your home including an outdoors fire place.

Circle of Trust Conceptstore & Denim brand | Pijp area
Just around the corner from Albert Cuypstraat Circle of Trust opened their first Concept store, one of the designers of FoA tipped me about this new store. I passed by this narrow part of the street very often and coming back, I loved the new shop windows with a mix of fashion furniture.
Founded in 2005 Circle of trust is mainly know as a denim label for men, women and kids. In the 240m2 concept store you will find a mix of lifestyle, vintage and contemporary furniture and the complete selection of fashion Circle of Trust has to offer. I found a super cool present to bring home!

Gatherhshop | Unique objects from young designers | Pijp area
Gatherhshop is a brand new shop at the Pijp, just around the corner of Ceintuurbaan, focusing on objects that are made by hand, all with a story, a maker, an integrity. I met owner Jessica some time ago when she just opened the shop and loved the clean and minimal look of the store. I asked her how she puts together the selection, "We believe in the unique value of simple things, a considered approach to design and a recognition of thoughtful craftsmanship. Our collection of jewellery, homewares, art and stationary are guided by material and simplicity, with natural forms and unimposing colours, the objects and the connection to their makers really speak for themselves."
Unique objects from young designers
The collection celebrates artists and designers from all over the world that are making in small batches and often in studios at home. By only getting a small number of each object, you can have something truly unique.
Gathershop work mainly with makers that are at the beginning of their journey, this means they get to showcase their beautiful work in a shop environment but also means that all pieces can be at accessible price points.

Scandinavian Embassy | de Pijp area
Scandinavian Embassy is the perfect spot to have a coffee break when shopping on Albert Cuyp market or exploring de Pijp area. This coffee bar has a real Scandinavian feeling by the use of wood and white painted walls.
They offer a range coffee from small Scandinavian coffee roasters, Drop coffee, being one of my favourites I learned to drink in Stockholm. Expect healthy lunches with Scandinavian flavours and other Nordic specialities.
During the Hospitality & Style awards last month (December 2014) Scandinavian Embassy was awarded in the category Best Coffee Concept, offering everything we can expect from a, so called ‘third wave’-coffeebar, perfect made coffee and different choices |Nicolas Castagno, is an awarded Swedish barista| What the jury thought was really outstanding, and not yet seen that much in Europe are the culinary dishes perfectly matching the coffee.
