TOMS | New store on Runstraat

Good news for TOMS fans, as from now on you can find your Toms shoes and sun-glasses in the heart of the Jordaan area where the first European store opened its doors.  Blake Mycoskie is the Founder and Chief Shoe Giver of TOMS. He is also the person behind the idea of One for One, a business model to help a person in need with every product purchased. If you buy a pair of TOMS shoes, TOMS will give a pair of shoes to a person in need. I love this business model and was happy to accept TOMS invitation to have a sneak peek at the store.

A simple idea has grown into a global movement: TOMS Shoes has provided over 10 million pairs of shoes to children since 2006, and TOMS Eyewear has restored sight to over 175,000 since launching in 2011. No coincidence Toms opened today! Today is also the 'One day without shoes' day, the annual day to encourage the world to go without shoes to bring global awareness to children's health and education. Find TOMS on Runstraat 13.

A piece of Finland | New Finnish design & coffee at Haarlemmerdijk

Please note this store is now permanently closed

'A piece of Finland' is a brand new store at Haarlemmerdijk, selling and promoting all things Finnish! Owners Ramona Korhonen and Anna Kelhu opened the shop last week and next to selling and promoting Finnish brands they love the store functioning as a cultural meeting point.

The back of the store is light and white and the minimalistic painting on the wall represents Scandinavian winter.
Selling travel books at the store and advise those travelling to Finland is part of their philosophy.

A dialogue with nature is reflected in many Finnish design pieces Legendary international brands such as Iittala, Marimekko, Nokia and Artek have paved way for new successes like Ivana Helsinki, Secto, Tonfisk, Rovio and Jolla.

Shop Tonfisk, rubber footwear by Nokian, bags by Lumi, Globehope, Reima childrens clothing, FLow cosmetics and delicious Finnish foods and more.

Guide update | Jordaan area | Herenstraat & Prinsenstraat

The Herenstraat and the Prinsenstraat are two small streets between Haarlemmerstraat and the Nine streets. Easy to reach when walking from Noordermarkt along the Prinsengracht or from the Dam area. They are often overlooked, but have seen a lot of new stores opening up recently, and this small area is quickly becoming one of my favourite new hang-out spots. The green plants in front of every shop, friendly connect the street.

The property of.. is founded by Peter Teo and Richard Chamberlain, the owners of a line of cafes in Singapore. They created a brand of fine men’s bags and accessories and named it Property Of... I loved the overal black painted interior. The collection is designed with a signature, clean timeless aesthetic and is targeted at men and women with a contemporary urban lifestyle.

At Denham they are delighted to have secured the iconic corner-shop location at the intersection of the Prinsengracht and the Runstraat. The new location creates a dynamic visual link between Denham’s mens store at Prinsengracht 495 and its womens store at Runstraat 17.
