Utrechtsestraat | Aesop Skincare

I couldn't more happier when Aesop Skincare store in Amsterdam openend its doors! It is actually the first Aesop store in the Netherlands and I am so happy Aesop choose the historical former Jamin candy store at Utrechtsestraat to be their location. Jamin used to be a really wel know candy store with different locations and the in 1911 renovated location at Utrechtsestraat is known as the best preserved Jamin store. Both the exterior and interior in neo Lodewijk XVI style are original including the mosaic floor.

Aesop is an Australian company known for its high-end plant-based products for body & hair I discovered some years ago and have been a fervent user ever since. No need to tell you I am really happy we finally have our very own Amsterdam store!

Utrechtsestraat | Mobilia interior

Utrechtse straat Mobilia interior

During the pandemic, we mostly stay, on walking distance from our home in the eastern part of town and the city centre. Utrechtse straat has always been a favourite If you love great brands and interior design Mobilia at Utrechtse straat is a must see in general especially after the renovation of their three-storey building. I simply love the new and fresh look. White painted floors are styled with affordable design and beautiful classics, from furniture and lighting to accessories by famous designers to emerging talent.

A few months ago I had an appointment to check out some samples of the Anour lamp I placed in my kitchen, did a little shopping and snapped some new images.

Danish brandstore BOLIA | Utrechtsestraat area

With a grand opening and a 20% discount on everything! till december 27th, Bolia opened it's first store in Amsterdam and the Netherlands. You have to believe me if I say the team build up the store in only two weeks and the result is pretty amazing!

Two floors of affordable Scandinavian design and a brand that with their slogan 'Sea, smell, hear, touch & taste' has the mission to give you a new and inspirational experience.

In the store you can try out the furniture in different cozy settings, I especially loved the basement where a more darker atmosphere was created with soft velvet, dark walls and an industrial room divider. With the many styled corners this store offers everything to find some new inspiration for your interior and see a fresh and different Scandinavian we haven't seen in town before.

Winter in Amsterdam | December Christmas markets

December is here... Time to bring in the Christmas lights, lots of candles and think about a tree for the upcoming holiday season. Amsterdam is giving you tons of ideas with several Christmas markets around town over the next weekends... let me share some with you and get inspired for the best time of the year.

Relationship of Parts | Flos event at Mobilia | Utrechtsestraat area

If you love great brands and interior design Mobilia at Utrechtse straat is a must see in general, and the other night I attended a small event at the store organised by Mobilia and Flos called 'Relationship of Parts' an installation and storytelling performance hosted by Giovanna Castiglioni, daughter of famous industrial designer Achille Castiglioni.

Until the 29th of November some of the most iconic lamps including some sketches designed by
Achille for Flos are shown in separated parts over the first three floors while on the fourth floor all lights are put together. More info can be found at the Mobilia website. Of course you can also have a look at the regular Mobilia collection.

Sissy Boy Christmas market on the Amstelveld | Utrechtsestraat area

The Amstelveld, located in the Utrechtse straat | Rembrandtplein area, is a quiet square dominated by a white wooden church, surrounded by trees and a view on the canal. Around the church yesterdays Sissy Boy Christmas Market was the place to search for small treasures, unique items and left over stock. Like on every real Christmas market lots of greens, wine, hot chocolate and fire pots to keep you warm.

In the Duif church on the other side of the canal, different designers and brands were represented with a small stable. In case you missed it, there will be another Sissy Boy Christmas market on December 20 in Laren. (See link here)

Pistache Studio & Pizzeria.

Pistache is a Studio and Wood stove Pizzeria in the heart of Amsterdam and one day walking around with my camera to make pictures for Amsterdam Next, I found the doors of Studio Pistache open and just walked in.... can you imagine I fall in love with the place?

The Pizzeria makes delicious pizza's and the adjacent Studio is one of the most amazing spaces I know. I recently had a private dinner with a group of Interior design bloggers there and I truly loved the place.
