Public Space | North area

Amsterdam might be known best for its canals and charming city centre, I personally love living on one of the edges of town, the Eastern Harbour area where I am surrounded by water. I live on the first island of the area that from a harbour and industrial area was transformed into a partly residential area. My daily grocery store is located at one of the islands and just across the water there is the northern part of the city with industrial chic spaces like Hangar to be reach by a ferry.

The Northern area is becoming quickly a new favourite area, where you can breath and enjoy the waterfront, remember the apartment shoot we did in one of the new area's last year! After the opening of a new subway last Summer, which took more than 15 years to build, and the housing problem we have there are many new residential area's build and a new skyline across the water is already visible.

Located inside one of the new residential towers, Public Space opened its doors some months ago, and it feels different from every other coffee space we have in Amsterdam. A huge grey space with a black ceiling, black tables and chairs next to several corners with vintage Danish furniture. Not my favourite kind of furniture but I have to admit really comfortable. I can see a few seating areas with elements by Living Divani though looking amazing here!

Some details I loved....the plants are huge, including a few trees 'growing out' the communal table. The bar is made out of Viroc, a material I have been looking at before and coffee is served in beautiful ceramic cups, more about these later! Find Public Space at
Bercylaan 301 just behind the Eye.
