VENU AMSTERDAM Lifestyle and work place

Back in a semi quarantaine situation in Amsterdam since last week and with most of us working from home again, there is also some positive news to tell. For all you design enthusiasts looking for a place to work outside the home or organize an appointment on location, there is Venu. The super stylish Amsterdam-based lifestyle and work place for creatives and entrepreneurs "Designed with a difference and filling the gap between work-in-cafe culture and exclusive co-working spaces driven by membership" says Yulia Nikitina who is the brain behind the idea of Venu which she launched a few weeks ago together with her business partner Olga Konovalchuk at Haarlemmerdijk

After talking often online, I finally had the chance to visit in between working mainly outdoors and from home. I do love to meet and work outside and like most of us know the feeling when looking for a place to meet and work outside, to often end up at dull decorated spaces or busy cafes where it is difficult to have a conversation. None of that at Venu, because the design has been well thought out and for everyone who reads my blog, the space is filled with furniture by brands you also see mentioned here on the blog. Think Menu, Stellar Works, &Tradition and artists like Bram van der Beke.

Salt Water Amsterdam small store & cafe | Haarlemmerdijk (CLOSED)

A mix of the Far East and France probably discribes Salt Water Amsterdam, the store of Malaysian born Wanting Choo, best. After having lived in different places around the globe she is now combining her passions for art and design and her love for the ocean and natural products in Salt Water Amsterdam - a city she now lives in.

At Salt water you will find a selection of well-made clothing from independent designer brands in small quantities. Organic, handmade and well-designed home goods, and vintage objects collected from her travels.

Wanting: "We discover inspiration where we may. We provide a space where you can come have a coffee, browse unique items we found around the globe and get inspired to create art in any forms. Be it a sketch, a photograph, or even a beautifully written love letter. Why not?"

This store is now closed, more info at the website!

New colours for Sukha Amsterdam | Haarlemmerbuurt area

It is more than five years I first posted about one of Amsterdam's most iconic stores, Sukha Amsterdam at Haarlemmerstraat. The store has been bright white for some years now and recently got a makeover. At the back a nice wall partition made out of old window frames separates the atelier from the store.

A round table, one of the latest designs by Atelier Sukha stand prominently in the room, new also is the couch shown in one of the pictures. The most important change though is the walls and floor changed from white into grey, it gives a totally new feeling to the store that you feel immediately when entering the store, go check it out!
