Studio Piet Boon designs Omoda flagshipstore | South area

Dutch successful shoe retailer Omoda developed its vision for a luxury flagship store in the atmosphere of a luxury hotel or restaurant together with Studio Piet Boon. This week the flagship store (the twentieth Omoda store) opened at Van Baerlestraat and I visited their festive opening party.

Studio Piet Boon, responsible for the interior design of the new Omoda flagship store of over 500 square meters, created a unique shopping experience that feels like a combination between a museum and a personal walk-in closet.

This feeling was realized by providing the interior with large, low and apparently floating presentation blocks that vary in height and pedestals with glass roofs on which "pieces" can be displayed. The blocks are contrasting in both color and material, creating an exciting dynamic. The low presentation tables emphasize the height of the ceiling (5 meters), which gives the interior a theatrical appearance. The side walls show straight cabinets, the back wall in the store has a green silk plant wall. Round freestanding open walk-in closets in different heights and  without a back wall give the store secluded corners with a transparent character.
